At Network Rail we want to take our communications from wordy, complex and formal to short, clear and warm. The communications team have created ‘Speak Passenger’ guidance to help us do this.

The point of Speak Passenger is to put yourself in your audience’s shoes (whether that’s passengers or not).

They want you to use language that’s short, clear and warm. That doesn’t mean dumbing down. The content of our writing shouldn’t change. The point is to say exactly what you want to say, but make it easy for your audience to take it in.

Please see further guidance and support on the Speak Passenger guidelines here.
