Flexible Working

Flexible working policy concept. Piece of paper on table.

Flexible working is a way of working that suits an employee’s needs, e.g., being able to work certain hours or work from home.

Under the new <flexible working bill>, anyone can ask their employer to work flexibly and must be consulted before their request is refused. Refusals must be accompanied by valid reasons why flexibility would mean an individual is unable to do their work as outlined in their job description.

It is important to carefully consider all requests for flexible working and how they can be practically accommodated. Flexible working should be recognised as part of a supportive workplace that embraces diversity and wellbeing across its entire workforce.
